Saint Matthews Church, East Stroudsburg, Pa.

We are always happy to lend a helping hand at Saint Matthews Catholic Church in East Stroudsburg, Pennsylvania; but this job called for us to wield an iron fist! The former convent home to the nuns who taught at their parochial school was in sever disrepair and was deteriorating rapidly. The decision was made to demolish the building before a catastrophe occurred. L. Marki and Son tested for and found the building contained asbestos, which was commonly used as a flame retardant and/or as insulation in construction prior to 1978. Of course today we know that exposure to asbestos may increase the risk of many types of cancers and disorders. Therefore, asbestos must be removed and disposed of according to strict laws and regulations. Prior to demolition, we safely removed all the hazardous material and Waste Management in Pen Argyle handled its proper disposal. After demolition the site was graded and left neat and clean.
